Copperstate 1000 Road
Rallye visits April 2

Ever seen an Aston-Martin, Bentley or Porsche racing car up close? Visitors had a chance to stroll amidst an eye-popping automotive array Wednesday, April 2, during the lunch hour when the Copperstate 1000 Road Rallye rolled into Boyce Thompson Arboretum for a picnic.

Each year this road rally has drivers traverse 1000 miles of Arizona roadway in a fundraiser for the Phoenix Art Museum; this year the Copperstate ended with a lunchtime pit-stop at the Arboretum before completing the final hour's drive to Pheonix.

Some of the 60 rallye cars represented makers Porsche, Maserati, lamborghini, Aston-Martin, BMW and Bentley. Participants each paid more than $4,000 to participate in the rallye, funds which benefit the museum. For details about the 2004 Rallye CLICK HERE
